Ok, so I have the biggest sweet tooth known to existence. It's my guilty pleasure for sure, and also a part of the reason why I joined in on starting Pint Size Pair. Finding healthy alternatives to the sweets I loved was just the beginning of my journey. Ice cream is one of my absolute favorite desserts, but luckily today there are tons of alternatives to sugar loaded, dairy ice cream out there! But I discovered something better. This easy 1 ingredient, frozen treat is so good I don't even need the bad stuff (with the occasional trip to "Big Gay Ice Cream", this is the closest I can get to their "Salty Pimp") I promise, this dessert is perfect every time. A play on toppings is really what makes it. |

Gluten Free. Paleo. Egg Free. Refined Sugar Free. Amazing. I stumbled upon this little treasure of a recipe about a week ago and have already made these macaroons twice. I want to thank Lauren at Empowered Sustenance and Jenni at The Urban Poser for creating such a recipe that allows me to indulge without feeling GUILT. I added a drizzle of dark chocolate and a pinch of sea salt. I don't think I need to explain why. There are so many variations of this recipe and I can't wait to try them all, as well as do some experimenting myself! Before diving in, I should warn you : These little guys are addicting. Maybe it's just me.. but there is something about the nature of bite-size food that is so irresistible!
We all know that the real way to a man's heart is through his stomach. (That's what we believe, anyway.) This Valentine's Day, we bring you yet another delicious and healthy dessert recipe. A girl's gotta have options, right?! We also believe that you can indulge in sweets without immediately being filled with regret. This crumble is the perfect post-dinner dessert. From start to finish, this recipe only took about 35 minutes! It requires minimal work, and is so easy to throw together in a pinch! We served our strawberry-banana "ice cream" over this warm, juicy, and sweet strawberry almond crumble. It was the perfect combination. It's also vegan, gluten free, refined sugar free, and paleo! Pretty amazing, huh? Upon first making this recipe, we decided to keep the portion small. But if you are preparing the crumble for more than one serving, it can easily be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled. We will definitely be creating different variations of this recipe in the near future, so stay tuned for more crumbles!
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and we are totally using it as an excuse to create new healthy desserts! (and then eat them, of course) Hey- someone's gotta take one for the team and be the taste tester... a position that we are both glad to take on! These brownie bites are gluten-free and absolutely delicious. We used oat flour as well as greek yogurt and flax eggs to create these moist, cake-like brownie bites. They definitely have the option to be vegan by removing the greek yogurt and swapping it with extra coconut oil to keep them moist! Remember to tag us in your photos if you decide to make them for your significant other... or yourself! (Let's face it- you deserve a little extra love this weekend.)
This vegan-friendly Banana Bread is filled with cinnamon swirl goodness and guilt-free, wholesome ingredients. We are lovers of all things banana, and this quick bread bread is our ultimate favorite. Top off your loaf with a little brown sugar and your favorite mixed nuts for a little extra sweetness!
We haven't posted a dessert recipe in quite some time, but trust us when we say that this one was well worth the wait. Cookies may just be our favorite dessert to make... and eat (obviously). These pumpkin cookies were amazing and made our apartment smell heavenly. A combination of the cakey, melt-in-your-mouth texture and warm fall spices will leave your buds longing for more. The best part? They're both vegan and gluten free so feel free to indulge! With the craziness of apartment hunting consuming our lives the past few weeks, we are very excited to get back into the kitchen! We hope to have some very delicious recipes for you guys in the next upcoming weeks as we dig into summertime!
Ingredient of the month?---Buckwheat Flour. Buckwheat is not a type of wheat or grain---it's actually part of a plant related to rhubarb! It's a great gluten free option, high in fiber and protein rich so it aids in weight loss. So in honor of mothers day (and because we just love healthy sweets) we baked up a buckwheat muffin/donut with apple, banana and sliced almonds. These were to die for! Try it with walnuts instead and you'll want to eat the whole batch! (: |
